As seen in Melbourne

Greetings! I haven’t forgotten about you, I promise. As per usual, I’ve been busy. D and I were in Melbourne, Australia visiting friends from May 28-June 1. D turns 30 this month, so we wanted to head over to Melbourne as part of his birthday celebration. Just a quick 5 day trip over a long weekend here in NZ. We spent a lovely 5 days checking out some touristy sites including the National Gallery of Victoria (which we missed last time we were there in 2013 as it is closed on Mondays! Inevitably Monday was the day we tried to go). We also checked out the Melbourne zoo, which is quite a great zoo. I especially enjoyed the lemur enclosure which is a bit like a butterfly house – where you walk in and the lemurs are just running around. You’re not allowed to get too close or touch them, of course. But they were sooooo totally adorable up close.

The other highlight of Melbourne is the food. So much food. We had a big brunch every day, and had some fantastic tacos at a place called Radio Mexico.

The final reason to go to Melbourne, after the nightlife and ability to catch up with tons of our friends, is the shopping. Even though I’m on a clothing ban, I was keen to try and pick up some earrings or something small. Despite going through some of the big malls, and all through Fitzroy – I failed miserably at buying anything! There was honestly nothing that really appealed. I might be broken.

I’m still on the lookout for some cool earrings. Until next time!
